Claiming Crown Day at Churchill

Players Only Saturday

🐎🎯 Handicapping with Tom: "The Class Drop Advantage"

Horses dropping in class often signal strong betting opportunities, especially when moving from allowance or maiden special weight to claiming ranks. Pay close attention to horses with competitive efforts in tougher company—they often outclass their new rivals. Look for those with consistent speed figures and connections making strategic placement moves. The class drop can be the key to unlocking their potential.

🏇Today’s Racing:

  • Aqueduct -Debut-winning pair step up in wide-open Central Park
While Jack and Jim and Not for Hire may have less seasoning than their fellow 2-year-olds entered in Saturday’s $150,000 Central Park Stakes, they are two of several contenders in a seemingly wide-open renewal of the one-mile turf stakes at Aqueduct.

The Central Park drew a field of 11, but only 10 may run as the rails on the outer turf course are out 18 feet.

  • Churchill-Lunch pail set have their moment in Claiming Crown
The Kentucky Derby is, of course, contested annually at Churchill Downs, and the Kentucky Oaks writes its way into history each year beneath the twin spires as well. The Louisville track has played host to the Breeders’ Cup nine times, and contests several other Grade 1 races during its annual meets.

But it’s blue-collar horses who make up the majority of programs at Churchill Downs, and elsewhere.

Churchill Today Claiming Crown Day!  offers $1.1 million across eight races with starter-allowance conditions, meaning horses must have competed for a certain claiming level or cheaper within a given range of time. Great card! Don’t Get Left in the gate!

Utah @ No. 17 Colorado

The Buffalos are on a roll, having won three games in a row entering the home stretch of the season. If they can get past the Utes, Colorado could solidify themselves in the College Football Playoff race.

No. 22 LSU @ Florida

LSU is coming off a blowout loss at home to Alabama but they are still technically alive in the SEC race. They would need to win out and have a few teams ahead of them drop some games but anything is possible.

No. 23 Missouri @ No. 21 South Carolina

Both of these programs have seen ups and downs this season. Missouri entered the year highly ranked but bad losses to Texas A&M and Alabama have seen them drop heavily.

South Carolina has picked things up in recent weeks and could finish strong within the SEC. A win for either side could go a long way in terms of the conference and possibly a spot in the College Football Playoff if things shake out well.

No. 7 Tennessee @ No. 12 Georgia

his is the heavyweight game of the weekend as the Volunteers look to put the nail in the coffin of the Bulldogs. Georgia has lost two games already this season and a third loss would likely spell the end of a College Football Playoff chance.

Tennessee has only had one slip-up this year and a win over Georgia could heavily increase their chance at playing for the SEC title. This should be a great game, showcasing two of the better teams in the country.
