In today’s races, stamina can often be the deciding factor, especially in events beyond a mile or those with a demanding pace scenario. Look beyond a horse’s final times and focus on their ability to maintain or improve position in the later stages of their recent races.
Key indicators of stamina include:

 Strong Late Pace Figures: Horses that post solid closing fractions or high late pace ratings often have the endurance to finish strong, especially if today’s pace collapses.

 Breeding for Distance: Check the pedigree for distance-capable sires or dams, especially in races stretching beyond the horse’s typical range.

 Workout Patterns: Horses with steady, longer works (5 or 6 furlongs) leading up to a race often signal fitness and readiness for a sustained effort.

Combine these insights with today’s pace setup. If you anticipate a fast early tempo, look for horses that have proven they can grind out a win late. On the flip side, if stamina is paired with early tactical speed, these horses can also lead wire-to-wire. Stamina might not always shine on paper, but it’s the engine that powers big winners!
